The fantabulous performance of the 24th batch of the 10th graders with a 100% pass in the CBSE - AISS Examination 2019 has made the institution revel in the luxury of success again!

GIS – SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION
Gulf Indian School celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Friday, 15 February 2019 with great pomp and show in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Sanjeev Saklani, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy, Mr. Ghazi Faisal Al Dabbous, Chairman of GIS, a galaxy of distinguished guests, various heads of schools and parents.
The invocation dance was followed by the launching of the Silver Jubilee Edition of the school magazine – ‘LEGACY’ by the Chief Guest in presence of the Chairman, Principal and Manager.
At this celebrative milestone, quite befittingly, the Founder Principal Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran, who has been at the helm of this most sought-after institution for 25 years, was honoured by the Chairman in recognition of her inspirational leadership, excellent administration and commitment to cause. The staff expressed their solidarity with their beloved Principal with a ‘floral crown.’
The Chairman also felicitated the Manager Mr. Sreekumar for excellence in administration.
Special Awards for Long Service were presented to the staff. Scholastic and non-scholastic awards were given to students from I to XII.
Following the GIS tradition of promoting excellence in education scholastic and non-scholastic awards were presented to the high achievers in different fields by the Principal and Manager.
The evening reverberated with the cheers of jubilant minds that burned up the dance floor. The singers and dancers celebrated patriotism, unity, victory and many other cultural and traditional festivals of Kuwait and India. The vibrant costumes, lively rhythmic movement of the tiny tots, ghoomar and bhangra stole the show.
It was really an evening to cherish through posterity.

Gulf Indian School quiz team of Ushasi Nandhi (Class VIII) and Reuben Alphonso (Class VII) became the First Runner Up in the 22nd KITCO Inter-School Quiz Competition conducted by the Bengali Cultural Society, Kuwait on September 14, 2018.
The admirable duo brought the coveted First Runner Up Trophy to the school after a neck and neck race of matching wits with 21 teams from various schools in Kuwait. They also have individual BCS trophies, certificates and a cash prize of 100 KD
each to their credit.

GIS Shines with Merit and Competence
The 23rd batch of Gulf Indian School, Kuwait represents the pinnacle of achievement with 100% pass in the AISS Exam 2017-2018 (Class X), conducted by CBSE.
The perfect score of 100 in Mathematics, French and Social Science has added to the glory of the results.
They also secured excellent scores in English – 98, Science – 98 and Hindi – 97.
Out of 186 students, 47 students secured 90% and above and 59 students scored above 80%.

to conduct a one day Teachers’ Training Programme on 9th May 2018, under the aegis of CBSE Gulf Council, Kuwait Chapter.
During the five and a half hour session with a 15 minutes tea break the veteran educationalist exuding undiminishing, infectious energy donned the mantle of a
friend, philosopher, entertainer, yogi and guru, imparting priceless lessons in life, making each listener introspective about both their personal and professional lives.
GIS wholeheartedly thanks the venerable life mentor for guiding and inspiring its teacher-learners.

GIS QUIZZERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT !
The mega festival of quizzes hosted by NIT, Calicut on Friday 20th April 2018 at Cambridge School, Mangaf, saw a course of accolades for the quizzers of Gulf Indian School.
The senior quizzers Samuel Mathew and Harish Babu worked wonders on the stage with their exhilarating performance and bagged the first position, leaving their opponents far behind.
Both the audience and quiz masters showered profuse appreciation on the team. The veteran GIS junior team comprising of Alan Kinad and Ushasi Nandi secured the 3rd Position in another
close race on the same day in the junior category.
In the 6th edition of the MahaQuizzer Middle East, 2018, a solo open written quiz researched and conceived by the Karnataka Quiz Association and hosted by NIT, Calicut,
the GIS quiz maestro Sanjay Samuel Mathew secured the 1st Position in the Senior students category and 3rd position in the Open Category simultaneously.

Award for Excellence (Certificate & Cash Prize of KD 40/-) in the International Benchmark Test 2017 conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research was bagged by Swachanda Roy and Harish Babu of Class IX.
They achieved the top scores in English and Science respectively among all the students in the Middle East who appeared for the IBT 2017.

Pre-Primary Parents’ Day at GIS
The Parents’ Day of the pre-primary sections of Gulf Indian School, Kuwait was held on 20th February 2018. The colourful programme commenced with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthems of Kuwait and India and a sweet welcome by Master Asher. The Principal Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran in her address stressed on the importance of co-curricular activities in the overall development of a child. The tiny tots in their admirable costumes entertained the audience with their scintillating performance. Their confidence and perfection won a big round of applause.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Master Rayan.

PARENTS’ DAY CELEBRATION AT GIS
Gulf Indian School celebrated the 24th Parents’ Day of classes I & II on 17th and 18th January 2018 respectively. The founder Principal, Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran presided over the events and gave
away the Individual Trophies to the sports champions of the year. The gala event commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The day unfolded a celebration of vision, which enthralled the
audience. The cultural galaxy was a star burst of colours with expressive and graceful little ones waltzing away in gorgeous and stunning costumes. The skit “Sabse Khoobsoorat Baccha” earns
specific mention which was most befitting the occasion. The fiesta of talents concluded with the vote of thanks.
MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY DR. RAJIV PODUVAL
Dr. Rajiv Poduval, MD, FASN, serves as CEO of the Renal Care Organization, and Global Nephrology Solutions (GNS), and President of Southwest Kidney Institute, Arizona, USA.
On the 6th of December 2017, the students of class XI had the privilege to attend an interactive session with Dr. Rajiv Poduval. Indeed the session was highly informative. His varied achievements in various walks of life serves as
milestones in his journey. He is surely an inspirational model to all. The students were inspired by his unique views in the field of health services. His careful assessment and evaluation of various issues, not only in health services,
but also among the doctors and patients invoked compassion. For the students, his motivational and innovative ideas will definitely stay engraved in their hearts for years to come. They will surely cherish this priceless opportunity.

TEAM GIS CLAIMS DUAL VICTORY!
The Gulf Indian School quiz team comprising of Nevin Salu Chirayath, Harish Babu and Yash Yadunath Alva secured the second runner up position among 120 teams in the Q8 Open Quiz 2017 organised by the IIT-IIM Alumni Association
on 24th November 2017 at Cambridge English School, Mangaf. This team made it to the finals after a closely contested preliminary written quiz held on the same day.
The prize for the most innovative team name “ The Clockwork OranGIS” was bagged by the students Sanjay Samuel Mathew, Fahaad Ahmed and Barath Bhaskar.
The laurels brought by the GIS students came as an outcome of regular practice and prowess, in this most sought after brain game in Kuwait, hosted by the renowned quiz master Giri Balasubramaniam.

Mr. Alobo Naga an artist, composer, song writer and brand Ambassador for Swacch Bharat Abhiyan for Nagaland, visited Gulf Indian School with his team on 21st November 2017 to inspire and ginger up the confidence and optimism in teenagers.
The students were captivated by the mesmerizing music which proved the age old saying “music touches us emotionally, where words alone can’t”.

Gulf Indian School, the Defending Champions of the IDF Health Quiz, maintained their supremacy in quizzing by winning the prestigious 8th IDF Interschool Health Quiz Trophy 2017.
In a competition organized by the Indian Doctors Forum on 10th November 2017 at the Indian Embassy Auditorium, the GIS students Sanjay Samuel Mathew (Class XII) and
Barathkumar Bhaskar (Class X) proved their dominion in this field with their incredible knowledge and unbeatable spirit. Sanjay and Barath stunned and left their opponents far behind
with their rapid-fire reflexes on the buzzer.

KITCO QUIZ AND KQ MATTERS WINNERS FROM GIS
The consistently successful Gulf Indian School quizzers bagged the First Runner Up Trophy in two major quizzing events in Kuwait.
Athul Rajeev of class IX and Yash Y. Alva of class VIII represented the school at the KQ Matters Grande Finale hosted by the Indian Educational School on 8th September 2016.
The winning team was awarded trophies, certificates and a cash prize of KD.300/-
The team comprising of Harish Babu of Class VIII and Mekhna Sara Bijoy of Class VII lifted the First Runner Up Trophy at the KITCO Interschool Quiz competition hosted by the
Bengali Cultural Society on 9th September 2016. The winners were awarded BCS trophies, Fantasy World Libratone speakers and 4gms gold coin each.

C.B.S.E. - Class XII RESULTS – GIS TRIUMPHS AGAIN
The 19th batch of class XII students of Gulf Indian School have performed brilliantly in the 2015-2016 AISSCE raising the bar for academic excellence across schools.
We proudly acknowledge the young achievers. It’s once again a success story of excellent results with no failures.
Out of the 93 students, 86 candidates were placed in first division with 55 securing above 75%.
Analysis of the result
Ayisha Noha Jamal topped the science stream with a stupendous 97.4% with a centum to her credit in Informatics Practices. She stands third in Kuwait.
Williams Gee Sebastian, the second rank holder has scored a stunning 95.8% and Josh Pius in the third place with 95.4%.
Sheba Mariam Sabu notched the first position with an aggregate of 95%. She stands third in Kuwait.
Vergil Vernon Dmello is in the second place with 89% and Hiba Mushtaq Halde in the third place with 88.8%
The excellent performance of the students has put Gulf Indian School on the pinnacle of glory and swelled each heart in the family with a sense of accomplishment and pride.
This outstanding achievement is the result of the combined efforts of the persevering students and dedicated teachers under the guidance of the Principal.

CONSTITUTION DAY OF INDIA
GIS celebrated the “Constitution Day of India” on 26th November 2015. The Principal Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran addressed the students and teachers and briefly stated the significance
of celebrating the Constitution Day of India to honour our democracy.
The events of the day were:
1. The Principal led the school in taking a pledge by reciting the “Preamble to the Constitution”.
2. An animated video themed “Spirit of Freedom” was screened.
3. The students rendered a patriotic song.
4. The preamble written in calligraphy by the students was displayed.

The 6th Inter- School Health Quiz organized by the Indian Doctors Forum was held in the Indian Embassy Auditorium, Kuwait on 20th November 2015.
After an exciting and closely fought quizzing session, the Gulf Indian School team named Ibn Sina secured the second position.
The team members were Eshita Bansal of class XI and Sanjay Samuel Mathew of class X.

FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION AT GIS - 2015
Gulf Indian School celebrated its 22nd Foundation Day on 20.09.2015. H.E. Mr. Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait was the Chief Guest. The occasion was graced by the
presence of Heads of other schools in Kuwait, parents and well-wishers. Proficiency prizes were awarded to the high achievers in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. In the cultural
programme that followed the children enthralled the audience with their magnificent stage craft, melodies and rhythms. The street play (Nukkad Natak) on Child Labour, GIS orchestra
and the Mime were some of the highlights of the day.
KITCO INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ 2015
The Gulf Indian School quiz team secured the First Runner up trophy at the KITCO inter-school quiz competition conducted by the Bengali Cultural Association
on 11th September 2015. The proud members of the team are Bharat Kumar Bhaskar (Class VIII) and Harish Babu (Class VII).
